JOB SUMMARY:
The primary responsibility of this position is to design and generate reports to provide information. The Reporting Specialist will work closely with internal customers to understand the request. This will require the ability to understand the business objectives to provide a workable solution.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
1. Work with internal customers to understand and interpret reporting needs, suggest alternatives and generate reports to meet customers’ needs. 2. Provide a timely response to customers. 3. Organize, stratify, and present data for optimal business decision-making. 4. Monitor and maintain automated report generation and distribution. 5. Ensure appropriate data is maintained in reporting databases and recommend enhancements to better meet customers’ needs. 6. Effective use of system for validation of data. 7. Manage reporting process by disabling reports no longer being used, making improvements to reports and identifying new reports needed. 8. Understand and report key factors. Identify trends and inform customers when applicable. 9. Be knowledgeable of customers’ systems and work processes to better understand their reporting needs and provide cursory analysis related to business reporting to identify major issues. 10. Develop a sound understanding of reporting systems and tools to include practical application, technical knowledge and reporting capabilities. 11. Investigate and recommend new technology to meet customers’ reporting needs; participate in creation of new applications that may have a direct link to reporting tools and needs. 12. Acquire working knowledge of all current and new SNI standard business reporting tools, to include practical application, technical knowledge and reporting capabilities. 13. Provide coaching/mentoring to Reporting Technicians and Specialists where appropriate.

EXPERIENCE AND SKILL REQUIREMENTS:
1. Ability to work independently and collaborate within a team. 2. Minimum of two years post high school education and a minimum of 3 years of work experience preferable with Schneider National or an equivalent combination. 3. Reporting capabilities in Business Intelligence software (Cognos, Business objects, SAS, etc). 4. PC skills required: working knowledge of MS Access, Excel, and Power Point. 5. Proven analytical skills. 6. Ability to organize and prioritize workload. 7. Well organized and flexible. 8. Attentive to details and data integrity. 9. Effective interpersonal (verbal and written) communication skills. 10. Ability to use sound judgment and decision-making skills.
