Neuroscience Research Scientist
This position requires use of controlled technology. An export license from the U.S. Department of Commerce may be required in order to be employed in this position. Ph.D level scientist responsible for contributions to drug discovery and development of new chemical entities for the treatment of psychiatric disorders. Research will be focused on the integration of genetic data to improve target validation and generate better animal models. Will serve as scientific group leader within a team of scientists focused on therapies for psychiatric disorders.
Job Responsibilities
KEY OBJECTIVES/DELIVERABLES:
- In collaboration with external (academia / biotech) will use genetic data to identify novel targets that underlie neuropsychiatric disease and develop animal models of disease
- Experience in leading scientists in in-vitro and in-vivo pharmacology research
- Lead cross-functional project teams including staff from the Psychiatric Disorders team, core laboratories and affiliated LRL functional areas. Effectively communicate project goals and progress at governance committees and other LRL forums.
- Have and maintain an international reputation in the research community. Leverage this reputation to build strategic relationships to facilitate collaboration, research agreements, and outsourcing with world class external groups in the field.
- Maintain appropriate level of documentation and compliance.
- Generate written reports, files invention disclosures, prepare manuscripts for peer-reviewed journals.
- Actively participate on multi-disciplinary teams for discovery, biomarker and translational research, and clinical development.
- Ensure safe laboratory practices
Job Qualifications
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:
- Ph.D. and/or M.D. in neuroscience, neuropharmacology or closely related fields
- At least 3-5 years post-doctoral experience in academia or the pharmaceutical industry
- First and senior authorship of peer reviewed publications in high profile journals
- Strong familiarity with drug discovery

- Track record building scientific and collaborative relationships
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
- Demonstrated project leadership skills and clear accomplishments, including scientific leadership of programs that have advanced to clinical candidate status
- Demonstrated establishment of working relationships with internal groups to facilitate implementation of external partnerships
