| | BROAD FUNCTION AND SCOPE OF THE POSITION: This position provides direct supervision for 2nd hift distribution and special packaging operations for hourly personnel in a union setting, as well as the oversight and direction of various temporary personnel for the effective operation of the distribution and special packaging function on 2nd shift at CSDC #199. Also, this position is responsible for the related communication, documentation, and reporting associated with this position. PRINCIPAL CONTINUING RESPONSIBILITIES IN ORDER OF IMPORTANCE: Management - Responsibility for managing the special packaging, labeling, and distribution operations on 2nd Shift to ensure volume and variable costs are within guidelines set by the Annual Operating Plan (AOP) and management, and so as to obtain variable production costs (V.D.C. & F.P.C.) that meets or exceeds plan. Provide the necessary direction and leadership required to maintain and centralize labeling, packaging, and distribution functions so as to operate at approved levels set in the Annual Operating Plan (AOP) and/or by management. Ensure that a reliable and accurate inventory of finished product is maintained. Assist in directing capital improvement and maintenance programs, to ensure DC operations, inventory management, packaging, labeling, and distribution capabilities are sufficient for company needs, to minimize cost of operation, and to ensure sufficient capability to effectively react to changing market demands. Supervision - Provides necessary direct supervision of hourly production workers in a union setting, as well as the oversight and direction of various temporary personnel to achieve Annual Operating Plan (AOP) goals, as well as other goals set by the management team. AOP & Forecasting - Assist, as required by local or regional management, in the preparation of capital budgets, variable cost estimates, and the Annual Operating Plan (AOP) to ensure that operating objectives are realized. This includes the responsibility for effective management of fixed cost and capital spending. Assist, as required by local or regional management, in the analysis or development of special projects or studies. Quality - Responsibility to ensure that volume and fixed and variable cost containment in the distribution, packaging, and labeling operations for 2nd shift stays within guidelines set by the Annual Operating Plan (AOP) and management, and so as to obtain results that meets or exceeds plan. Monitor warehouse sanitation and take corrective action when necessary. Communications - Responsible for the related communication, documentation, and reporting associated with related supervisory duties and management role. Capital - Actively participates in the development, and implementation of capital budget projects as assigned to ensure effective and efficient installations that will achieve desired operational results. Training - Directs training and developing of competent hourly and temporary employees to achieve desired quality, safety and production goals. Safety - Ensures compliance with all approved and applicable safety rules in the employee's area of responsibility. Continuous Improvement - Supports, facilitates and assists in the implementation of the facility's Continuous Improvement (C.I.) initiatives. Education: Bachelors Degree in related field. Years of Experience: 3+ years Special Requirements: - Must have extensive functional knowledge of distribution, special packaging or labeling. - Must possess strong organizational skills. - Must have strong written and oral communication skills.
