The primary purpose of the Medical Technologist is to perform many and varied chemical, microscopic, bacteriological and immunological tests to obtain data to aid in the diagnosis and treatment of disease. Obtains and receives specimens for laboratory analysis. Applies techniques used in the fields of bacteriology, hematology, serology, immunology, chemistry and morphological examination. Performs other related duties as required by the supervisor. Records laboratory test results. Instructs new laboratory personnel and takes call as scheduled. Is responsible to the Lab Supervisor. Must work closely with personnel in laboratory, frequently with all personnel involved in the care of patients (family, physicians, nurses, CNA's, imaging, surgery) and with business office workers to plan and deliver care reflective of the knowledge of the growth and development aspects of the age group being served, particularly when caring for infants, children and geriatrics.
Employee will perform all job duties according to the Mission, Vision and Values of St. Joseph Medical Center.A. Licensure / Certification / Registration: Licensed as CLS in state of Montana required, and MT(ASCP), NCA(CLS) or MLT (ASCP) or equivalent certificate required.
B. Education: Bachelor's Degree or Associate's Degree required. C. Experience: Requires 2 years hospital clinical laboratory experience preferred.
