Position Description:
This function works in the analysis phase of the system development cycle and business support post development. Works with business partners to evaluate business system requirements, evaluate existing or proposed systems and prepare detailed functional and non-functional requirements from which programs will be written. Leads other system analysts.
Primary Responsibilities:
- Facilitate data and application requirement gathering and documentation
- Facilitate the gathering of data, application, and/or reporting requirements from various business areas through interviews, in-person, and JAD sessions
- Ability to ask the right questions to get to the real business needs and dive deeper into initial business requests
- Analyze business requests and be able to make technology needs and requirement assessments to meet the strategic direction of the organization
- Develop deep knowledge in specific application(s) in order to serve as an application SME to the business users
- Great attention to detail to ensure the application and data requirements meet the needs of the business
- Create data and system application requirement documentation
- Document requirements in various methods, including process flows, activity diagrams, application and/or data flow diagrams, use case formats
- Document knowledge transition documentation and processes on application and data changes
- Act as the liaison for the business segments during project development lifecycle and post-implementation
- Serve as a system SME for the application and system data structures
- Work with the business leaders, training, production support and QA teams to understand the existing and new system functionality as needed
- Work with business representative to understand ongoing data maintenance needs for support of the application
- Solve complex problems and develops innovative solutions
- Perform complex conceptual analyses
- Lead other resources
- Review work performed by others and provide feedback and mentoring for improvement
