COLLEGE OF HEALTH SCIENCES - DEAN'S OFFICE
The Administrative Assistant is responsible for assisting with the management and coordination of administrative activities within the college. This includes preparation of correspondence, document editing and preparation, and word processing; setting up and maintaining college files and related databases; use of a statistical package and college applicant and enrollment spreadsheets, entering and analyzing survey and outcomes data and generating reports; update of the college Web site; assisting with tuition information and projections; coordination of meetings and keeping the Dean's calendar; maintaining office and related supplies; completing purchasing orders and travel authorizations; maintaining contracts and affiliation agreements; filing, reception, copying and other routine office duties. This position exemplifies the Rush mission, vision and values and acts in accordance with Rush policies and procedures.
Knowledge: Proficient in the use of standard office equipment and routine business software packages such as MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Access
Ability to use statistical spreadsheets and databases, excellent computer skills
Familiarity with the organization and administration of higher education preferred
Knowledge of student information systems would be helpful
Some knowledge of Web applications for Web page management preferred
Skills: Excellent word processing and document management skills
Excellent organizational skills regarding electronic and paper records
Excellent verbal skills, written communication, and telephone skills

Abilities: Ability to produce outstanding, error free documents in a timely and efficient manner, including reports, letters, memoranda, and related materials

Ability to consistently provide excellent customer service in a friendly, outgoing, and professional manner
Able and willing to learn new skills as needed, especially to work with new technologies that become available
Must be detail oriented and have the ability to accomplish multiple tasks in a timely manner.
Education: Minimum of associate's degree in a business, management or related area, bachelor's preferred. Three to five years practical experience in a health or business office preferred. Must have an excellent command of the written English language, to include grammar and spelling.
