Symantec Endpoint Security products are the
core of Symantec’s security strategy for the enterprise. The company’s
flagship product, Symantec Endpoint Protection, provides industry
leading protection to small and medium size businesses as well as
world’s largest enterprises. Built on cutting-edge technologies (many
of which protect millions of consumer desktops in our sister product
line – Norton Internet Security and Norton 360), the system offers
anti-virus, anti-spyware, firewall, intrusion prevention system,
application control, device control, and proactive threat scanning that
can be centrally managed through a scalable architecture.
This is a mid level professional software engineer position with
responsibilities including design, implementation, and maintenance of
features for Symantec Endpoint Protection Server.

Responsibilities
|
|
• Develop high-quality software solutions
for mass-market (shrink-wrap) software with hundreds of thousands of
customers and millions of users.
• Develop multi-tier Web Applications using PHP interacting with SQL Server and Sybase databases
• Author Functional Specification and Design Specification
Documents to outline solutions to fulfill explicit and implicit
requirements.
• Develop high quality designs and code with respect to
testability, internationalization, scalability, performance, security,
and fault tolerance, develop unit and automated regression test scripts
for execution within the automated build environment.
• Identify, evaluate, learn and apply new technology skills rapidly.
• Communicate within and across technical teams, provide estimates and manage own schedule at component/sub-system level
• Interact with Quality Assurance to ensure successful fulfillment of quality goals.
• Must find creative solutions to complex problems with ambiguous
trade-off optimizations, must write clear technical documentation and
chair effective reviews.
• Must adapt to rapidly changing environments and communicate
effectively, must be customer-driven, must be passionate about meeting
customer needs and contributing to a successful team.

Qualifications
|
|
• Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Computer Science or equivalent work experience required
• Must have experience developing web applications using PHP, scripting languages such as JavaScript
• Must have worked with SQL Server and/or Sybase database using ODBC/JDBC.
• scalability, data structures, exception handling and writing secure code and multiple life-cycle experience
• Must have comprehension and knowledge of fundamental algorithms and Windows platform experience.
• Should have shrink-wrap, or mass-market equivalent programming experience, enterprise-class shrink-wrap experience a plus.
• Should have experience designing and coding using design patterns, knowledge or experience of Architectural Patterns a plus.
• Must work well in a team environment; take team successes and
failures as own, must communicate effectively through technical
documentation, email and face-to-face, must be a proactive communicator.
