JOB DESCRIPTION
Duties and Responsibilities To perform routine maintenance and repairs on automotive and motorized construction equipment; maintain company vehicles by keeping them lubricated, fueled and clean; help service automotive electrical, mechanical and fuel systems; change oil, repair tires, and wash and pack wheel bearings; help mount vehicle bodies, tool boxes, welders, generators and compressors; keep garage clean and orderly; and perform other duties as assigned.
Work Conditions Requires working: on call, overtime; weekends, some out-of-town, and/or holidays; in hazardous environments; in cramped areas; in extreme hot and cold temperatures; and in and under vehicles. Requires: frequent bending, squatting, twisting, lifting and reaching; and individual travel with both on- and off-road conditions. Requires exposure to: noise from air tools, compressors and welders; battery acid; oils; radiator fluid; and cleaning solvents.
REQUIREMENTS
Knowledge of: routine automotive and motorized construction repairs and maintenance. Skill using: hand and power tools such as hoists, saws, wrenches and hammers. Ability to: comprehend and apply basic arithmetic; understand and respond to written and oral instructions; communicate effectively orally and in writing; lift 100 lb.; see objects at close range; determine the distance and relationship between objects; distinguish the nature of sounds to determine if equipment is running correctly; respond to emergency conditions while traveling (i.e., changing flat tires, chaining up vehicles, operating jacks and performing minor maintenance); operate a two-way radio and cell phone; contribute to a positive work environment; be courteous to co-workers and customers; follow directions from supervisors; and refrain from abusive or profane language and behavior in the workplace. Requirements: regular attendance; two years experience in automotive maintenance and repair, or one year trade school and one year experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience; obtain and maintain medical clearance to operate DOT-regulated vehicle; a valid driver’s license for the size and type of vehicle to be driven; an acceptable driving record; undergo annual audiometric testing; be neat in appearance; wear proper safety equipment; possess own set of hand tools; and adhere to all company policies, including the Questar Corporation Business Ethics and Compliance Policy.
