Description:
Provide Fastener, Hardware, Electical, Fabrication, and Mechanical product and purchasing expertise to optimize material acquisition and carrying costs while ensuring the lowest price possible for high-quality product deliverable within the customer’s stated time period.
  • Procure spare parts requirements for program teams based on Inventory Replenishment Plan Schedule
  • Negotiate, verify, complete and evaluate among capable sources for the best value to satisfy customer requirements
  • Negotiate price, delivery and other terms and conditions as necessary
  • Issue Purchase Orders in a timely fashion
  • On-time delivery from vendor/suppliers
  • Ensure reasonable cost of goods
  • Process Request for Quotes (RFQ’s) in a timely manner
  • Administer Purchase Order process
  • Resolve vendor performance issues, e.g. quality, administration, purchase parts, etc.
  • Amend purchase orders as required to reflect new terms
  • Responsible for updating internal database with current supplier/contract status
  • Follow-up with vendor to ensure on-time delivery
  • Create shipping notices to return defective material
  • Assist vendors in resolution of payment issues
  • Develop partnering relationships with vendors
Qualifications
  • Ability to read blueprints
  • Understanding of specification requirements
  • Proven ability to develop and foster partnering relationship
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Proficient PC skills (MS Office)
  • Basic understanding of contracting principles
  • Knowledge of distribution channels
  • Excellent negotiation skills
  • Fastener or Hardware Knowledge

Education and experience requirements:

  • BA/BS in business related field
  • 3-5 years in procurement/buying
  • Six Sigma trained, preferably certified
