HVAC Mechanic Qualifications: Minimum high school diploma or equivalent. Minimum of five years of HVAC trade experience, preferably in the field of health care. Experience with digital, pneumatic and electrical controls required. Trade or technical college education in HVAC and refrigeration systems or concurrent enrollment in related programs required. EPA certified to remove refrigerant utilizing recovery equipment. One time certification not requiring renewal. Must be knowledgeable in the use of a wide variety of plant equipment, refrigerant recovery systems, hand and power tools. Must have advanced knowledge of refrigeration & HVAC systems to provide complete maintenance on all equipment and troubleshoot complex problems. Knowledgeable in the process of collecting water samples, testing , and treating of closed loop water systems and cooling towers. Must have good organizational, customer relations and communication skills. Must be a team player. Must be able to read and communicate in English. Job Description: Accurately, effectively and competently installs, maintains and troubleshoots all heating, ventilation, air conditioning and refrigeration systems. Performs preventative maintenance on all equipment as assigned through the P.M. program. Monitors cooling, heating, and ventilation areas as required. Adjusts, calibrates, replaces thermostats to maintain acceptable environmental conditions for patients, employees and visitors. Maintains documentation to ensure compliance with regulatory agency requirements. Maintains equipment and observes all regulations and laws regarding refrigerant usage and indoor air quality. Maintains in-depth knowledge of equipment and systems and utilizes resources such as project plans and utility maps to review, analyze, and evaluates complex problems and provide recommendations. Applies knowledge to improve work processes and procedures for more efficient operations. Identifies opportunities to minimize costs and potential risks. Available to the Engineering and Management staff as needed. Requires minimal supervision to complete tasks. |
