The only area hospital with a dedicated pediatrics department, Palms West Hospital has 175 beds, a surgery center and numerous specialty programs. Our facilities include:

We currently have a full time opportunity for a Coder who will be responsible for coding all inpatient and outpatient records in an accurate and timely manner utilizing the ICD9-CM and CPT-4 classification systems and department procedures. Abstracts required data into the Clinical Patient Care System.

Qualified Candidates must possess:

  • Required high school graduate

  • Two years training in Health Information Management preferred including coding or a graduate of an RHIT or RHIA program

  • RN, LPN, or physician also considered

  • Certification in coding is desirable (CCS)

  • Prefer minimum of one year experience in medical record coding and abstracting using the ICD-9CM and CPT-4 system classification

  • Accurate clerical skills, ability to work independently, demonstrate organizational skills, and meet required deadlines

  • Possess good communication skills to deal specifically with physicians

  • Requires high concentration level and perception for accuracy
