Essential Job Duties: The Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering at NC State University invites applications for consideration at all ranks of Research Assistant Professor, Research Associate Professor, Research Professor. Successful candidate(s) will be affiliated with the newly established NSF Engineering Research Center (ERC) for Future Renewable Electric Energy Delivery and Management (FREEDM) Systems. Candidate will conduct analytical and experimental research within the Center, support the research activities of other center faculty and supervise graduate students.

The ERC (www.freedm.ncsu.edu), created by an $18m NSF grant will facilitate a radical transformation of renewable energy delivery and management systems, significantly increase the deployment of renewable energies in our country and spawning whole new industries. The ERC multidisciplinary teams will partner with industries to solve complex energy system problems. Candidates with industrial experience are also encouraged to apply. Writing grant proposals and technical reports. Required to publish at technical conferences and journals. Candidate will also optionally teach classes when there is a need.

Other Work/Responsibilities: Research areas of the ERC include advanced energy storage and storage systems, machines and motor drives, renewable energy generation technologies including wind and solar, advanced solid state power conversion systems, distributed system control and communication, power system operation and control.
