PACS Specialist

Reporting to the CIO, the PACS Specialist’s primary responsibilities are focused on the operational administration and management of the PACS application and integrated solutions. The incumbent will be responsible for overseeing and coordinating existing and new PACS and digital imaging initiatives as well as providing configuration and systems analysis. Must be able to effectively handle project related tasks to optimize workflow and system performance of the PACS system and peripheral applications. Will serve as project coordinator for system upgrades, installations of additional modules, and new system implementation initiatives which will also include end-user training, Will also develop and assign system security clearance to end users. This position will also work closely with DMA’s Network/Server Administrator on issues related to uptime, disk storage, and network administration. May be required to perform other general network and server administration under supervision of DMA’s Network/Server Administrator. Will also serve as an active and integral member of the IT Help Desk team.

Must possess at least 3 years of recent PACS System experience along with the proven and practical ability to have successfully lead or actively participated in the implementation and support of a PACS environment from the application side. Excellent interpersonal and communication skills are a must in order to effectively train and interact with all levels of the organization. Must possess the equivalent of a BS degree with certifications in PACS Systems Analyst (CPSA) and/or PACS Systems Manager (CPSM). Must possess proven and advanced knowledge and understanding of complex systems operations (PACS and other digital imaging solutions), information flows, and sound practices to ensure credibility of the system. Must have knowledge of DICOM, HL7 and other interface protocols as well as practical knowledge related to clinical work flow and billing. Experience with EMR/RIS systems required; Epic and Radiant module preferred.
