Director of Student Teaching and Visiting Assistant Professor
of Curriculum and Instruction

The Education Studies Department at Skidmore College, a selective liberal arts college in Saratoga Springs, New York, invites applications for a three-year appointment as Director of Student Teaching and Visiting Assistant Professor or Lecturer of Curriculum and Instruction, beginning in April 2010.

Premised on a constructivist approach to teaching and learning, faculty in the Education Studies Department prepare students for initial certification in New York State, grades 1-6. In addition, the on-campus lab school affiliated with the department, the Early Childhood Education Center, offers a minor in early childhood education. Qualifications for this position include a strong commitment to teaching and teaching experience at the elementary education level, as well as a robust commitment to undergraduate education within a liberal arts context. Teaching experience at the college or university level is desirable. A graduate education degree is required. Responsibilities include planning and directing the Education Studies Department’s student teaching program (a full-time semester for seniors each fall) and teaching Curriculum and Instruction courses each academic year.
