Kahi Mohala Behavioral Health Center opened its doors in 1983, became affiliated with Sutter Health in 1992, and was converted to a not-for-profit behavioral health hospital. We are located on a private 14.5 acre setting on the island of Oahu, Hawaii. The facility is the first and only free-standing center for psychiatry exclusively dedicated to behavioral health care in Hawaii.

We are dedicated not only to psychiatric, emotional and behavioral stabilization, but also to recovery through empowerment. Teaching individuals the skills to self manage and self-regulate to the fullest possible extent is a fundamental goal within the treatment and recovery process. Improving the overall quality of life for the people we serve is at the heart of Kahi Mohala's philosophy of care.

Located on 14.5 park-like acres, Kahi Mohala's 88-bed facility is Hawaii's only private, freestanding psychiatric hospital. Kahi Mohala provides comprehensive behavioral health services for adults, adolescents and children experiencing problems with psychiatric disorders, alcohol and drug abuse, anxiety, depression, eating disorders, emotional disturbances and work of family relationship challenges. The buildings and grounds offer a complete residential environment with an emphasis on patient safety and security.

The Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) provides specialized nursing care and direct supervision of psychiatric patients, assists in the collection of data for the nursing assessments, and follows plan of care to provide specialized nursing care.

Graduate of an accredited Licensed Practical Nurse or Practical Nurse Program or otherwise qualified for Hawaii Licensure as a practical nurse. Must possess and maintain Hawaii Licensure as a LPN. Successful completion of an accredited pharmacology course is required. Prior experience in an acute medical/surgical or psychiatric experience required. Will consider applicants with less experience and new graduates who have taken the licensing exam. Must pass a written exam covering general psychotropic medication administration and medical terminology. Must understand psychiatric diagnoses and interventions. Must have knowledge of legal aspects of nursing and a thorough understanding of emotional and behavioral problems preferred. Demonstrated ability to function as an effective member of a team, administer medication, intervene in crisis situations. Must have a valid driver's license.
