Minimum Experience/Education: Graduation from a four-year college or university with a degree relevant to the area of assignment and a minimum of one year of directly related experience. Or an equivalent combination of education and experience. Necessary Special Qualification-Positions require a valid license to practice architecture or landscape architecture granted by the North Carolina Board of Architecture.

NC State RIF candidates from grade 63 higher have reinstatement priority.

This position is at the journey level.

Departmental Required Skills:

Preferred Experience, Skills, Training/Education: 5 years of experience as a licensed architect.

Experience with LEED certified buildings/LEED Certification is preferred.

Experience on a college or university campus.

Essential Job Duties: Performs as project manager in programming, design review, and construction for large ($20m and above construction cost) capital improvement projects.

Will select designers for projects, negotiate design consultant and construction-manager-at-risk contracts. Acts as key liaison between user group representatives, university stakeholders, and design team. Responsible for maintaining project scope, budget, and schedule. Ensures design compliance with Master Plan and Design and Construction Guidelines.

Monitors all professional service contracts according to the standards of the contract, as well as current local, state, and federal codes and regulations.

Other Work/Responsibilities:

Necessary Licenses or Certifications: North Carolina Architectural license.

Valid license to practice architecture granted by the NC
Board of Architecture or licensure in another state with ability to obtain NC license within 6 months.
