We currently have an opportunity available for an Associate General Counsel in Edina, Minnesota.
Primary responsibilities include:
- Support of the UnitedHealth Networks division of UnitedHealthcare, which is responsible for our national hospital, physician and ancillary provider network.
- This person will handle complex legal projects and evaluate and determine appropriate legal courses of action to meet business unit needs.
- Frequent interaction with company senior leaders and/or outside counsel on complex issues having impact across UnitedHealth Group organization entities.
Qualifications
- Juris Doctorate degree.
- A minimum of five years experience as an attorney in a mid to large size law firm or in-house counsel.
- Extensive health and/or corporate law and contracting experience (drafting and negotiating), preferably provider-payer contracting in health care.
- Strong understanding of managed care industry preferred.
- Strong analytical and negotiation skills.
- Well-developed written and verbal communications skills.
- Excellent presentation skills.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced, high-output, team oriented, practical environment.
- Ability to evaluate and determine appropriate legal course of action to meet business unit needs.
- Provide sound, proactive, fact-based advice.
