About the Opportunity

Reporting to the Human Resources Manager, the HR Specialist will provide technical and specialized support to a variety of human resources activities and functions for employees and managers working within the Carlsbad Call Center. You will maintain compliance with federal and state regulations applying to the employment relationship. The perfect candidate will have the ability to sense potential HR issues, evaluate implications, and recommend and implement actions/solutions. You will be required to exercise tact and diplomacy in dealing with sensitive, complex and confidential personnel issues and employee situations. Maintaining confidentiality of work records, accurate record keeping and keeping up-to-date files are a must. You will be required to interpret, apply and explain applicable rules and regulations, prepare clear and concise reports, correspondence and other written materials.

Responsibilities and Duties:

• Provide technical support and backup in such personnel areas as payroll documents, employee records, classification, compensation, benefits administration.
• Provide classification, compensation and benefits information to employees and/or other organizations.
• Present re-enrollment or annual benefit presentations and assist with processing benefit documents.

• Provide advice to employees on where and how information can be found.
• Complete employee exit interview documentation.
• Assist in sorting and reporting on employee survey or other data.

Education and Experience:

• BA degree in business/personnel administration or equivalent.
• Two years of experience in Human Resources in a private or public agency.
• Must have high volume call center experience.
• Sound knowledge of State and Federal employment laws
• Prior supervisory skill - interpersonal communication, coaching, mentoring
