JOB SUMMARY:

The Nurse Practitioner provides comprehensive physical assessment, treatment, psychosocial support, referral, and health education children and families in clinical, school, and in-home settings. The Nurse Practitioner functions as a primary care provider, clinical leader, educator, researcher and consultant and works with supervision of a physician. The Nurse Practitioner supports the philosophies of the department of nursing as well as the medical staff.

MINMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

Current California Registered Nurse

Current California Nurse Practitioner license

Current CPR certification (Issued by American Heart Association or Red Cross provider)

Certification: Nurse Practitioner, National (w/in 1 year of employment)

Furnishing number, State of California (w/in 1 year of employment)

DEA number, Federal (w/in 1 year of employment)

Participate in neonatal transport, as well as delivery room resuscitation and stabilization

Neonatal Resuscitation Program certification

Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP) Instructor (w/in 1 year of employment)

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

Two years experience in clinical nursing with emphasis in specialty area

Experience in specialty area as a Nurse Practitioner

Formal in-service education and/or lecturing skills Master of Science degree
