Lead Ambulatory Care Pharmacist II
Schedule: 40 hours rotating night and weekend position between the hours of 4:00 p.m. - 1:00 a.m. Monday - Friday and 12:00 p.m. - 1: 00 a.m. Saturday and Sunday.
Purpose: (One sentence summary of the job function.)
Responsible for all supervisory, managerial, and administrative duties of services in accordance with the departmental standards and government laws and regulations for small pharmacy operations or specified shifts.
This position consistently supports compliance and the Principles of Responsibility (Kaiser Permanente's Code of Conduct) by maintaining the privacy and confidentiality of information, protecting the assets of the organization, acting with ethics and integrity, reporting non-compliance, and adhering to the applicable federal, state and local laws and regulations, accreditation and licenser requirements (if applicable), and Kaiser Permanente's policies and procedures.
Accountabilities: (List of 4 – 6 primary responsibilities, not activities, in their order of importance)
1. Coordinates the activities of pharmacists and support personnel to optimize quality and efficiency of pharmacy services.
2. Ensures adequate staffing and scheduling of staff.
3. Oversees the collection and reporting of all quality measures as required.
4. Is responsible for maintaining high member satisfaction with pharmaceutical care services.
5. Is responsible for communicating and educating pharmacists, physicians, and other allied health providers on pharmacy related issues.
6. Performs general duties of a pharmacist as well as ensuring compliance with all regulatory boards (local, state, and federal), as well as Kaiser Permanente policies (EH&S).
7. Assists in maintaining budget at the center to include, FTE adherence, appropriate inventory levels and turns, formulary adherence, and proper cash handling procedures.
8. Engages in recruiting, interviewing, hiring, training, coaching, counseling, evaluating, disciplining and terminating staff.
9. Directly assists pharmacy management with budget development.
10. Provides timely feedback to pharmacy staff through coaching, counseling, and evaluation.
11. Ensures the highest standards of quality of care and service.
12. Provides leadership in creating a positive work environment, rich in innovation, creativity and conducive to work.
13. Assures compliance to all regulatory rules and regulations and Kaiser Permanente’s policies and procedures and professional practice standards which include but are not limited to:
• Drug Enforcement Administration
• State Boards of Pharmacy
• HIPAA
• Principles of Responsibility
• Proper Use of Kaiser Permanente personal computers and applications.
Minimum Requirement - Relevant Years of Experience:
• Effective oral and written communication skills required.
• Demonstrated personnel management skills required.
• Knowledge of federal and state laws as they pertain to pharmacy required.
• One year pharmacist experience preferred.
• One year pharmacist experience at Kaiser Permanente preferred.
Minimum Requirement - Education and/or Classes:
• BS in Pharmacy or PharmD required
Minimum Requirement - License, Certification and/or Designation:
• Licensed to practice pharmacy in the assigned jurisdiction required.
