Seeking Technical Consultant - Responsible for Technical Implementation of Autodesk's Technologies

Title: Technical Consultant #64954

Location: Greenwood Village, CO or Ottawa, CAN

Role/Purpose:

Software Engineers within Autodesk Consulting (AC) are responsible for the hands-on technical implementation of Autodesk technologies for AC’s customers. This typically involves one or more of the following types of activities – Autodesk product configuration, custom software development, systems integration and data related work (DBA, migration and cleanup). The AC software engineer must be able to perform these types of activities along with other activities that are required for the full project lifecycle such as writing requirements, developing detailed software designs, software testing and deployment support.

Senior software engineers do these same technical activities along with providing technical leadership on projects. The ability to perform hands-on technical implementation work is the most important aspect of this job. The mix of hands-on implementation work and technical management depends on the person’s capabilities and the size, complexity, and staffing of a project.

Principal Duties and Responsibilities:

- Perform software implementation and customization services including software requirements gathering, design, product configuration, software development, testing and deployment, database modeling and implementation, integration development, etc.

- Senior software engineers may perform technical project management duties such as organizing a technical team, allocating work to technical resources, oversight and review of technical deliverables and working with project managers to develop work estimates, perform risk management analyses, providing input to develop and maintain schedules and allocate resources. May coordinate technical information flow between clients, project teams and vendors. The technical teams will have varying sizes and potentially include internal and external resources.

- Senior software engineers may write technical documents including proposals, project status reports, solutions architecture documents, requirements, design and technical help documentation. May also create presentations, flow charts, diagrams, and other project documentation and deliver demonstrations of Autodesk products and solutions.

- Senior software engineers may interview and consult with customers in order to gather and determine customer solution requirements. Work with new and existing customers in order to identify unrealized customer needs and promote Autodesk solutions to drive additional revenue.

Critical Competencies/Minimum Requirements:

- Software Engineering Education – computer science degree(s) preferred.

- Software Development (10+ years)- extensive experience with software development languages such as the .Net Framework, C#, ASP.Net, Java (J2SE & J2EE), C++, web methodologies, etc.

- Software Engineering and Development Experience (10+ years) – extensive experience with software engineering methodologies such as RUP, XP, Agile, Waterfall, etc throughout the project lifecycle.

- Consulting and services experience. Working with customers to architect, design and develop solutions based on business requirements as well as delivering custom solutions for acceptance and deployment.

- Extensive experience with GIS, CAD or other graphics based systems and/or web development technologies (IIS, ACS, BEA WebLogic, ATG, JBoss, etc.).

- Experience with delivering solutions to customers with the following technologies: Autodesk products (AutoCAD, AutoCAD Map 3D, AUD, Topobase, MapGuide, AGDS); Non-Autodesk GIS technologies (ESRI, Smallworld); Non-Autodesk FM technologies (FIS, Archibus, Tririga, etc.).

Additional Requirements:

- Systems Integration Experience (8+ years) – demonstrated experience with integration processes and technologies.

- Data Modeling and Database implementation (8+ years) – demonstrated use and experience with of RDBMS technologies, data modeling tools, and data modeling process. Oracle experience preferred.

- Experience with electric, gas, water, wastewater and telecommunication utilities is preferred.

- Team work – demonstrated ability to work in a team of technical personnel, sales people, project managers.

- Listening.

- Communications – verbal and written.

- Managing multiple priorities.

- Managing through difficult situations (technical and interpersonal).

- Demonstrated ability to meet deadlines
