Location and team

KEMA Services, Inc. is a division of KEMA and is a leader in demand side management, energy efficiency and green building practices, with over 250 energy professionals in offices throughout the United States. KEMA Services Inc. is seeking a senior energy efficiency engineer to be based in Albuquerque, New Mexico. The successful candidate will support implementation of Public Service of New Mexico's Commercial energy efficiency programs.

Key responsibilities of the position include the following:

  • Technical and eligibility reviews of various energy saving projects which will include performance site-specific engineering analysis and evaluation of energy efficiency projects involving lighting, HVAC and industrial process equipment, such as pumps, fans and compressed air systems, complex central plant systems and advanced HVAC equipment.
  • Technical assistance in identifying and evaluating energy efficiency improvements for customers and trade allies.
  • Interacting with customers and trade allies to address questions or concerns about qualifying equipment or the energy efficiency programs.
  • Working with the building owner's design team on new construction projects.
  • Presentations to a variety of organizations including utility customers, trade allies and utility management.
  • Working closely with KEMA leadership and PNM personnel to monitor program results and quality and to develop recommendations to improve the program as needs are identified.
  • Mentor and train junior staff in all of the above functions.

What we're asking

Requirements include a bachelor's degree in engineering (or equivalent) plus a minimum of ten years of relevant experience. A proven track record in the energy engineering field is preferred, along with project management. PE and an energy efficiency background with a solid knowledge of energy efficiency technologies and practices are required. CEM certification and experience with end-use metering instrumentation is extremely desirable. In addition, strong communications skills as demonstrated by experience with presentations, papers or other public forums; strong report-writing skills; budget management experience; and computer skills including MS Office are desirable.
