Contracts Manager / Associate (9-12 month contract)

The Contracts Manager / Associate is responsible for coordinating all activities associated with the development, execution and management of clinical research contracts, vendor & consulting agreements. Monitor the contracts development process to maximize efficiency of contract execution.

Essential Duties
-Participate in project planning as needed by identifying contract development requirements and contract compliance requirements for planned medical affairs projects. In collaboration with project teams, monitor the progress of the RFP process as necessary (bid solicitation, analysis, defense) and final vendor selection.
-Receive final approved outsourcing requirements, project specifications or accepted proposals from requesting project team. Initiate formal contract development per company guidelines. Obtain from Legal Department the contract template appropriate for the project requirement, reviews scope of work, budget and payment schedule and assemble final contract package.
-Monitor and facilitate the progress of contract negotiations as needed to ensure that contract development timelines are met. Prepare, maintain and submit contracts development status reports to project management team. Support Program Manager in developing contract development performance metrics.
-Receive notice of requirements for change orders, upon approval by the project team, functional manager and project manager. Support project managers in contract review, external vendor evaluation using established criteria including audits, previous experience and benchmarking data.
-Support Program Manager in designing procedures to effect the timely execution of all medical affairs research agreements; define, establish and implement quality control procedures on contract documentation, storage, query and follow up in accordance with departmental standard operating procedures.

Relationship Management:
Reporting to the Associate Director/Program Manager executes contract development activities in accordance with approved operating plans and procedures. Interacts closely with key cross functional teams (i.e. Finance, Legal, Clinical Operations Study Management, Project Management) providing essential contracts management support


REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
Knowledgeable in contracts management within clinical research and medical affairs projects; this should include 3-6 years direct contract management experience and the ability to manage multiple contract development tasks simultaneously with strong organizational planning skills.

Minimum BS or BA in a business, science or related field.

Well developed analytical and problem solving skills.

Capability and experience communicating issues to senior management with action plans for resolution.

Innovative and motivated in optimizing contract development processes.

Knowledgeable in all required regulatory and compliance standards and guidelines related to contract development including company SOP's.

Ability to effectively work with teams and promote collaborations in a matrix organization.

Exceptional interpersonal skills including ability to persuade negotiate & resolve conflicts.
