Responsible for assisting physicians with patient care, clerical, environmental and organizational tasks. Responsible for appointment scheduling and chart management. Provides information to patients so they may fully utilize and benefit from the clinic services. Conveys a positive image of clinic.
1. Communicates professionally and effectively with staff, administration, patients, and public. * 2. Assigns tasks and monitors workflow to ensure completion within established time frames. * 3. Assists in developing and implementing goals, objectives, and policy / procedures for the department. * 4. Identifies problems, reports them, and makes recommendations for improvement.* 5. Monitors staffing level, reviews time off requests, and consults with Supervisor/Manager as needed to ensure adequate coverage. * 6. Reviews payroll reports and verifies accuracy of reported hours. Reports discrepancies to the Supervisor/Manager. 7. Assists in interviewing and selecting staff. Trains/orients and up dates assigned personnel on changes. Provides information and participates in employee performance evaluations. * 8. Attends required meetings and participates on committees as requested. * 9. Enhances professional growth and development through in-service meetings, educational programs, conferences, etc. 10. Monitors and orders supplies. Ensures equipment is maintained. 11. Maintains patient confidentiality. * 12. Prepares patients for examination and treatment. Takes patient histories and vital signs. * 13. Prepares exam and treatment rooms with necessary instruments. * 14. Gives injections and applies dressings as ordered by physician. * 15. Prepares and maintains supplies and equipment for treatments, including sterilization. * 16. Assists physicians with preparing for minor surgeries and physicals. * 17. Assists with scheduling of tests and treatments. * 18. Maintains patient files, records and other information. 19. Compiles and condenses technical and statistical data for reports and records. 20. Assist in other areas of department/clinic as required. * High school graduate, completion of M.A. certificate program, course in medical specialty. Maintains CPR certification. Phlebotomy certificate desired. Minimum of one-year work experience in public contact job, preferably service related. One year of experience in medical office preferred.
