Job Description
The HR Generalist will work with the HR Manager in Norwood, Ohio to support the following locations in addition to the Norwood location: Columbus and Bellefontaine OH, and Little Rock, AR.
HR Generalist may handle the day-to-day administration, communication, and implementation of HR policies and programs at the business unit or division level. Resolves complex employee relations issues. Conducts complex investigations and recommends corrective actions. Advises management regarding complex EEO, federal, and state employment laws and compliance issues. Coordinates and facilitates staffing of the organization to ensure its efficient operation. May assist in developing HR policy.
Key Responsibilities:
• ER/Organizational Effectiveness
Coach managers on how to handle ER situations, participate in EE/Mgr discussions, manage performance management and merit processes, consult on EE career planning, developmental needs and succession planning, assist with promotions, merit and salary planning, conduct investigations, document findings and make recommendations, consult on policy and legal guidelines, administer FMLA, service as resource for STD/LTD process
• Labor/Union Relations
Assist HR Manager to maintain positive union relations.
Interpret and provide guidance on policies and collective bargaining agreement - ensure compliance, assist in the preparation of cases for litigation and arbitration, manage day to day relations with union leadership, participate in second and third step grievance process, participate in contract negotiations
• Staffing
Partner with managers to discuss hiring needs, facilitate hiring process - act as liaison to Strategic Staffing and candidates, enter requisitions in People Click and Comensura, onboarding process, manage UC and Cinci State relationship, develop and implement recruitment strategies, interview and select candidates, determine salary for new hires
• Learning and Development
Develop tools and deliver training to employees and managers including Behavioral Interview, Merit/PMP Web, Supervisor and Manager Toolkits, facilitate Management Training
• Workers' Comp/Health and Safety
Co-lead Norwood Wellness Program, create strategies to improve injury rate and return to work process, administer Workers' Comp, consult with managers and outside parties on return to work issues, lead transitional duty team, responsible for compliance of claims management
• Process Improvement
Work towards continuous improvement in HR processes including on boarding/off boarding, staffing, return to work program, toolkits, delegate process; serve as ISO lead for HR
Qualifications:
• Bachelor's degree required.
• 5+ years human resources generalist experience required.
• Human Resources experience working at the plant level strongly preferred.
• High level of interpersonal skills and business acumen required.
• Strong facilitation and presentation skills and ability to effectively communicate with employees at all levels is essential.
• Thorough knowledge of local, provincial and federal employment regulatory compliance laws needed.
• Human Resources experience in a union facility preferred.
