About the Opportunity:
Under supervision, administers prescribed medications to residents and performs other nursing assistant responsibilities in accordance with established nursing standards, policies and procedures of the facility, and the requirements of the state. Qualifications: Education: High school diploma or equivalent preferred. Licenses/Certification: Valid certification as a CMA in the state of employment. Valid certification as a CNA in the state of employment. Experience: One year of nursing assistant experience, including administering medications in a long term care environment preferred.. Essential Functions: Verifies identity of resident receiving medication and records name of drug, dosage, and time of administration on specified forms or records. Presents medication to resident and observes ingestion or other application, or administers medication, using specified procedures. Takes vital signs or observes resident to detect response to specified types of medications and prepares report or notifies designated personnel or unexpected reactions. Documents reasons prescribed drugs are not administered. Gives direct patient care, such as bathing, dressing and feeding residents, and assisting in examinations and treatments. Takes and records temperature, blood pressure, pulse and respiration rates, and food and fluid intake and output, as directed. Maintains order and cleanliness of assigned work area. Washes and sterilizes medical supplies and equipment. Answers signal lights, bells or intercom system to determine resident needs. Performs other tasks as assigned. Conducts job responsibilities in accordance with the standards set out in the Company's Code of Business Conduct, its policies and procedures, the Corporate Compliance Agreement, applicable federal and state laws, and applicable professional standards. Knowledge/Skills/Abilities: Ability to react decisively and quickly in emergency situations. Ability to communicate effective with residents and their family members, and facility staff. Knowledge of medications, side effects and adverse reactions related to medication and techniques of administering medications and treatments. Ability to administer medications.
