Job
Title:
Principal Engineer- RF Switch
Design & Development Leader
Location: Cedar Rapids
Job Description:
This
engineering leader will direct and actively participate in the development of RF
switches for Front End Module products.
The ideal candidate will have direct
experience designing RF switches and developing handset front end modules which
use these switches.
This engineer will design using both internal and
external foundry process design kits. Candidate will work closely with Front End
Module design engineers, and will interface across functional and departmental
boundaries to ensure that product development goals are successfully
met.
Design Activities
• Switch architecture definition and
specification
• Simulation and physical layout of switch circuits
• LVS,
DRC, and parasitic extraction
• Test specification definition and
documentation
• Regular travel to Woburn,MA;Newbury Park and Irvine, CA
locations may be required.
Required Skills:
BS
Degree and 8 years experience required. Should also have demonstrated experience
in
Design simulation tool (ADS and 2.5D/3D EM - HFSS, Momentum, Sonnet
preferred); Product Realization Process; Design Architecture; Test Parameters
and Test Equipment; and Device or Product Characterization.
Preferred
Skills:
• Must have a solid understanding of critical RF switch performance
parameters such as linearity, harmonics, insertion loss, isolation, stability,
leakage, and switching-speed.
• Hands-on experience integrating RF switches
with power amplifiers and antenna switch modules is highly desired.
• Strong
ADS simulation and RF design skills, preferably in PAMs/FEMs. Switch design can
be learned - the circuits are really not all that complex.
• Must be adept at
performing non-linear RF simulations using tools such as ADS harmonic balance,
or Cadence Spectre.
• Experience using Momentum, Sonnet, or HFSS is
desirable.
• IC design experience is essential. Design experience within GaAs
PHEMT and CMOS is highly desired.
• IC layout experience including LVS/DRC
is desirable.
• Must understand switch control/biasing techniques, and
associated performance tradeoffs.
• Knowledge of PHEMT fabrication and how
this affects the device physics, device model and circuit performance.
•
Candidate may perform verification testing of their designs. A hands-on
perspective and understanding of RF test equipment is
required.
Desired Skills:
•
Inquisitiveness and eagerness to understand how performance is being driven by
the design - both electrically and physically.
• Strong leadership skills,
willing to demand action, feedback, accountability and results
• Strong
communication skills, both verbal and written
• Ability to influence and
motivate others.
• Candidate must have good organization skills and an
ability to work productively both independently and in a team environment.
•
Methodical logical troubleshooting skills
• High degree of spatial
intelligence
