Field Service Manager - Western Region

SUMMARY

Manage all aspects of Service organization for the Western region. Revenue responsibility for Western region service operations. Support worldwide service and support organizations through transference of knowledge and direct support when required.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

The following is a listing of the results/accomplishments expected in performing the job and the job’s essential or most important functions and responsibilities by which people achieve the results.

1. Provide leadership in developing a world class service and support organization. Hire, retain, and develop best in class talent to drive an exceptional productivity model for existing and future service and support business.

2. Responsible for the Western region revenue service business. Includes managing booking new business, recognizing existing revenue and controlling fixed and variable expenses. Also manage field based inventory level to maximize financial benefit. Create financial metrics that can routinely be used to audit and manage this business segment.

3. Manage the field-based Service team for the Western Region. Routinely travel with the service technicians.

4. Need to be able to represent Service in multifunctional settings to insure that the voice of service is incorporated into new product developments, quality, new marketing programs and sales presentations to customers.

5. Drive the full implementation of SalesForce.com to create an accurate up to date audit tool and measure the key metrics to drive a higher level of performance across the service organization.

6. Visit key customer accounts to make sure the service offerings are in alignment with what the customer expects and desires in the future.

7. Continue to upgrade the preventative maintenance program and introduce latest service technologies to continue to enhance the service offerings to the marketplace.

8. Should be prepared to travel overnight on occasion without notice. Local travel time may exceed 80% of workday, out of area travel approximately 50%.

QUALIFICATIONS

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE

The candidate must poses at least a Bachelor of Science degree, preferably in a technical field, with 5 or more years of management experience. The ideal candidate would also have experience in the areas of medical or biopharmaceutical instrumentation and managing a remote staff.

LANGUAGE SKILLS

Excellent communication skills in both written and oral formats. Able to stand up in front of large audiences and deliver a compelling message.

MATHEMATICAL SKILLS

Skills in fully understanding financial accounting and contracts a requirement. The ability to create and develop a detail budget and understand income and balance sheet formats.

REASONING ABILITY

Good solid financial and business understanding a requirement. Solid understanding of technical aspects of instrumentation and integration, customer relations, personnel development, cultural differences, and good management practices.

CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS

Must hold a valid U.S. driver’s license.
