Senior Systems Administrator (UNIX)

Description

Working with minimal direction of senior staff, this position will provide program implementation, operational and maintenance support for our server environments primarily focused on the UNIX environment. The goal of this position is to maintain a stable systems environment with minimal downtime and maximum performance.

Qualifications

Education and Experience:
  • Bachelor of Science degree in Computer Science or related area
  • Vendor tool certification preferred (Unix - HP-UX CSA)
  • 6+ years experience in System Administration supporting a networked server environment and large distributed server environment. Experience maintaining and supporting UNIX systems (HP-UX preferred) and RDBMS environments (Oracle preferred)
  • Experience and knowledge of storage systems in a Unix environment (SAN, NAS, RAID)
  • Or an equivalent combination of education, professional training and experience that provide the individual with the required knowledge, skills, and abilities
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
  • Business focused approach with strong interpersonal skills
  • Demonstrated ability to take IT engineering designs and convert them into operational services
  • Demonstrated ability to solve complex system and technical problems
  • Must be able to multi task and pay close attention to detail
  • Positive attitude with a commitment to a high quality of work
  • Demonstrate a competency to learn new technical skills
