Software Quality Assurance Lead

Full-time Position

The Quality Assurance lead works as part of a cross functional team to ensure appropriate validation activities occur in a controlled environment, and will qualify and ensure a high level of quality for the software developed by the Zebra Imaging Software Group prior to its deployment to production.

Essential Job Functions include but are not limited to:

· Define software team-wide QA policies and procedures and develop testing frameworks for multiple projects from the ground up.

· Assist the software team in architecting and implementing an infrastructure for build management, issue tracking, and automated testing.

· Help direct other testers and QA contractors as necessary.

· Developing processes and methodologies for Zebra that are in line with industry best practices.

· Executing, maintaining and enhancing internal QA processes.

· Developing and maintaining Test Plans

· Reviewing requirements and design documentation.

· Developing (writing) Test Scenarios and Test Cases from requirements and design documentation.

· Executing Test Cases and performing ad hoc testing, to identify software defects to ensure all software meets requirements and specifications. Approximately 50% of the testing done on a PC, the other 50% on custom hardware.

· Assisting the software development team in isolating and identifying defect causes.

· Performing regression testing on all new software releases.

· Collecting all necessary test data as outlined in the Test Plan.

· Documenting and communicating test results, analysis, and unresolved problems.

· Tracking all reported defects through to successful resolution.

· Advising management of software QA issues and determining approach for problem resolution.

· Preparing time estimates and schedules for testing activities.

· Assisting management in project status reporting.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

· The ideal candidate has working knowledge of process improvement methodologies and a track record of implementing process improvement.

· Strong understanding of quality assurance processes, the tools and techniques used to perform quality assurance and the ability to estimate, plan and execute his or her responsibilities effectively.

· Experience with testing custom SW on custom HW and/or HW integration into the QA procedures is a plus.

· Experience with test script automation preferred.

· Experience with performance testing a plus.

· Familiarity with C/C++ is a strong plus.

· Solid verbal and written communication skills.

· Ability to work as a team player.

Requirements

· BS or BA degree or equivalent work experience, or combination of education and experience preferred.

· 2 – 5 years minimum experience required.

· This position may require the ability to obtain and maintain a U.S. Government security clearance.
