The Registered Nurse coordinates nursing care for the patient and
participates in patient / family education. Works collaboratively with
ancillary staff and other patient care personnel in maintaining
standards of professional nursing practice in the clinical setting.
Participates in performance improvement activities to improve
patient safety and quality of care. Maintains cultural and diversity
awareness when dealing with patients, visitors, co-workers and other
customers. Promotes a supportive, team-work oriented environment.
Fulfills departmental responsibilities consistent with the long-range
plan, mission, vision and values of Bayshore Medical Center.
POSITION REQUIREMENTS
A. Licensure/ Certification/ Registration: Current licensure as a Registered Nurse in the State of Texas is
required. Current BLS (Basic Life Support) certification required.
ACLS certification preferred.
B. Education: Graduation from an accredited school of nursing required.
C. Experience: Six months of experience preferred but new graduates will be
considered.
D. Special Qualifications: Successful completion of hospital, general nursing, and unit specific
orientation. Effective oral and written communication skills.
Proficiency with computer technology. Ability to work well with
others in a team environment to ensure quality patient care. Strong
problem solving and customer service skills. Able to read, write,
speak and comprehend English. Will be required to work weekdays,
weekends and holidays. Due to changes in patient census, may be
required to leave early, rotate days off or help other departments.
DEGREE OF SUPERVISION REQUIRED
Degree of Supervision Required: Minimal. Must be able to work independently and in accordance with
established hospital policy/procedure. Receives general guidance and
direction from Charge Nurse, Nurse Manager/Director.
