Current Environment

Central Technology consists of 370 people and manages about 300 active projects annually. The senior management group views the organization as a solution provider; a key voice and influence in the bank’s strategic direction. Leaders within Central Technology are often promoted to business leadership roles.

The organization has one of the most efficient break-fix management operations in the industry. This team has the autonomy to formulate and craft solutions that are typically more effective than purchased solutions and M&T has been ranked as #2 in web banking in terms of customer service and performance (Gomez Index).

The Opportunity

The GVP, Distributed Systems will manage a team of six direct reports with up to 80 employees and a budget of approximately $35 million. The team supports all “non-mainframe” based applications for M&T and works across many M&T businesses.

Key Objectives

§ Re-engineer sales and service solutions for M&T’s 700 retail branches and call center environments by developing, recommending and implementing plans that encompass or revenue opportunities for the bank.

§ Foster a “career-enriching” experience for a team of up to 80 talented professionals responsible for delivering new solutions, enhancing existing systems/processes and ensuring exemplary day-to-day execution.

§ Manage the continuance and improve technology plans for key strategic business units within the organization that span three or more years in support of the bank’s business/operations objectives.

Basic Qualifications

§ 10+ years experience in leading and guiding a successful team

§ Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or related discipline

§ Advanced experience in systems development, bank integrations, conversions, and production problem resolution

§ High-level understanding of application design/architectures

§ In-depth knowledge of Internet applications

§ Expertise in dealing with offshore associates
