Job Details:

    • Associated Degree in Nursing / Equivalent military training
    • BLS & ACLS certified
    • Texas RN license required.
    • Basic computer knowledge required.
    • Customer service skills are required.
    • Excellent verbal and written communication
    • Provides professional nursing care (as defined by the Nurse Practice Act for the State of Texas ) within an assigned unit; coordinates care planning with other disciplines.

      • Utilizes the nursing process to provide individualized, goal directed nursing care.
      • Institutes appropriate nursing interventions which might be required to stabilize a patient's condition and/or prevent complications.
      • Knows rationale for the effects and proper administration of the medications and/or treatments she administers. Documents medications given with response, if appropriate. Complies with narcotic wastage procedure.
      • Consults with the appropriate licensed practitioner to clarify any order or treatment regimen that the nurse has reason to believe is inaccurate and/or contraindicated.
      • Documents completely and in organized manner. Charting includes the patient's symptoms, responses, progress, medications, and/or treatments. Documentation reflects timely verification of medical orders.
      • Promotes and participates in patient education and counseling based on health needs. Refers to community agencies for continuity of care.
      • Performs all required skills competently/ or under the direction of a preceptor. Performs with complex treatments, procedures and equipment required by unit's patient population.
      • Gives a comprehensive shift report. Gives report on patients when leaving an assignment.
      • Acts as a patient advocate in accordance with the ANA Code of Nursing.
      • Provides care in an organized and time-efficient manner.
      • Contributes to formulation and attainment of unit goals.
      • Suggests/plans/presents educational programs for the unit.
