- Responsible for developing new processes and procedures as 4 SOPS takes on an expanded cryptographic mission within the deployment of AEHF terminals.
- Provide joint cryptographic planning for all users of the Milstar and AEHF systems.
- Support the Milstar/AEHF COMSEC as follows: inventory account holdings; perform destruction; audit main and sub-accounts; perform end of day (EOD) checks and key processor changeovers.
- Perform duties and tasks as identified in AFI 33-201, Volume 2, AFKAG 1, and AFKAG 2 (latest version) to ensure the Milstar and AEHF COMSEC account programs comply with all Information Assurance Assessment and Assistance Program requirements as defined in AFI 33-230.
- Manage Key Authorization Tables to ensure all users have the correct Transmission Security (TRANSEC) keys to access the Milstar and AEHF systems.
- Assist with account audits at FE Warren, Vandenberg AFB, SAFB ASMCS with Key Translation Element (KTE).
- Process National Security Agency bulk key orders for all Milstar and AEHF national defense service users.
- Conduct on-site verifications (at TDY locations) that the Key Distribution Centers ship the appropriate TRANSEC keys to the Milstar and AEHF users.
- Provide technical support to all Milstar and AEHF Key Working Groups on issues affecting rekey operations.
- Provide technical assistance to Controlling Authority for Milstar and AEHF keys on all systems related matters.
- Provide proficiency training on a semi-annual basis to ensure 24-hour crews understand the cryptographic rollover periods and how they can assist in resolving user problems.
- Develop and validate procedures to ensure rekey activities (i.e. Binding, Break-the-Chain, Emergency Rekeys, etc.) are performed on schedule to prevent critical communications outages.
- Provide communications security planning for KGV-11 services.
- Perform the following services for the Central AEHF Key Management Station (CAKMS): operate the CAKMS Common User Application Software (CUAS); initialize key processors; process transactions; register and unregister key loading initialization facilities and the Local AEHF Key Management Station (LAKMS) accounts; register and unregister equipment end cryptographic units (ECU); endorse ECUs into the system; register and unregister ECUs into Fill Groups; evaluate the System Advisory Window; operate local COMSEC Management (LCMS); operate Santa Clara Operating System (SCO) UNIX; process Electronic Key Management System (EKMS) messages.
- Support the Key Translation Element (KTE) as follows: operate the KTE (turn-on procedures); server log-on, log-off; clients log-on, log-off; operate the key processor; operate Key Translation Element (KTE) Mission Support Software (KMSS); perform SQL queries; initialize the KTE; download CDs into KTEs; write CDs for Non-Satellite Operation Centers (SOCs) KTEs.
Qualifications:
- Successful candidates will have a Bachelors degree and 10 years relevant professional experience; or commensurate education and experience.
- Applicants must have Milstar and AEHF operations background and be a savvy technologist in order to communicate effectively with both internal and external customers, and company management.
- This is a highly visible and responsible position requiring superior communications skills, methodical project planning and execution, and innovative thinking.
Preferred Additional Skills:
- Prior experience at the 4th Space Operations Squadron (4 SOPS) and/or the 614th Space Communications Squadron (614 SCS) is desired.
- The ability to demonstrate Secure Mobile Anti-Jam Reliable Tactical Terminal (SMART-T), Single Channel Manned Portable (SCAMP), and Air Force Command Post terminals operations, Navy Extremely High Frequency Satellite Communications Program (NESP).
- Expertise with Army, Navy, Air Force and Marine EHF operations.
