Develops the provider network (physicians, hospitals, ancillary groups & facilities, etc.) yielding a geographically competitive, broad access, stable network that achieves objectives for unit cost performance and trend management, and produces an affordable and predictable product for customers and business partners. Evaluates and negotiates contracts in compliance with company contract templates, reimbursement structure standards, and other key process controls. Establishes and maintains strong business relationships with Hospital, Physician, or Ancillary providers, and ensures the network composition includes an appropriate distribution of provider specialties.

Qualifications
Qualifications:
- Seven+ years in network or contract management leading contract negotiations
- Bachelors degree or equivalent experience
- Extensive knowledge of health care industry, legal/regulatory issues, and operations knowledge, including thorough knowledge of provider reimbursement methodologies (Commercial, Medicare, Medicare)
- Proven successful experience in negotiation strategy development, and negotiation leadership/mgmt skills
- Proven successful experience in managing contracting professionals
- Complete proficiency in utilizing and interpreting financial models and network adequacy analyses
- Experience applying pricing, financial analyses, hospital bill audit results and contract standards to the development of Requests for Proposals and negotiation strategies
- Problem solving skills, including the ability to systematically analyze complex problems, draw relevant conclusions, and successfully devise/implement appropriate solutions
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills; ability to speak clearly and concisely, conveying complex or technical information in a manner that others can understand, as well as ability to understand and interpret complex information from others
- Proficient in speaking in both individual and group settings, particularly with providers and outstanding persuasive speaking skills
- Ability to multi-task, shifting back and forth effectively among multiple activities
- Possesses good interpersonal skills, establishing rapport and working well with others
- Demonstrated leadership skills as defined in UnitedHealth Group's Leadership Success Factors and UnitedHealthcare's Employee Value Proposition
