Senior Manager of Database Administration (MB)

Job Description:

Role:
A senior manager responsible for delivering database solutions and services to all enterprise applications and projects.

Responsibilities:
Manages a team of senior associates to support the enterprise level of projects
Works independently to deliver project results, managing multiple projects at the same time or one project of a highly complex nature
Has responsibility for all people management activities
Personally participates in leading problem resolution for particularly complex problems
Manages all phases of the project life cycle
Builds relationships with business unit clients; participates in discussions relating to business issues and how to leverage technology solutions
Demonstrates the ability to market and communicate technology decisions
May provide coaching and mentoring to less experienced managers
May have responsibility for managing less experienced managers

Experience:
Requirements:
Extensive background in database technology and architecture. Knowledge, familiarity and or experience with the following technologies: Oracle, MS SQL Server, Postgres, Linux, UNIX, Windows, SQL, Data Warehouse and n-tier application models.
Experienced in project management methodology and activities including estimating costs, project scheduling and resource allocation
Demonstrates depth and breadth of technical knowledge; capable of making technical decisions
10 years of technology management in the Financial Services or related industry experience
Ability to manager resources in remote locations
Ability to design, implement and support Oracle production databases for high availability, security, manageability and reliability
Ability to design, implement and support high volume transactional databases
Ability to perform complex, conceptual, and logical data modeling
Ability to design, implement and support large database implementations
Proficiency in Oracle backup and recovery techniques including RMAN, Online backup
Proficiency in Oracle Grid Control, OEM, Context Management
Proficiency in performance tuning
Strong knowledge or Oracle & PL/ SQL, SQL, Unix and shell scripting
Strong analytical & problem solving skills
Knowledge of data migration, data archiving and data access techniques
Knowledge of SOX and audit
Knowledge of Financial industry
Excellent written and verbal communication skills with the ability to communicate effectively with end users and management
Project management and organization skills are a must
Candidate will be detailed oriented with a proven ability to multi-task and prioritize multiple projects
Candidate must be able to interface easily with all levels of an organization both internally and externally and have the ability to navigate through an organization with minimal supervision
Client relation skills are required
Must enjoy team environment on group projects in addition to individual projects
Prior experience in a fast paced high tech environment is very helpful and experience in a start-up is a plus
Proven track record of vision, execution, and delivery
Skills must also include: strong interpersonal skills, technical assessment, communication, project management, multi-tasking leadership, presentation skills, and proposal writing
Bachelors' degree in a technology related area (Computer Science, Engineer, Quantitative Finance, Operations Research, etc.). Advanced degree a plus.
Must be willing to travel to other locations. 15 to 25%
