  • Designs, implements and maintains all functions of SQL Server databases, including access, methods and time, device allocations, validation checks, organization, security, documentation and statistical methodology
  • Develops systems and procedures affecting SQL Server database management, design and maintenance
  • Ensures a stable, secure and efficient database environment
  • Ensures integrity and availability of SQL Server DBMS and databases per service level agreements
  • Contributes to standards for database environments, physical structures and specialized database applications to create consistency across environments
  • Consults with users to determine requirements and recommends database solutions
  • Develops innovative approaches to business issues
  • Trains user groups on systems and procedures
  • Provides on-call support and answers severity calls as required
  • Upholds enterprise policy guidelines and recommends new and improved guidelines
  • Identifies and initiatives resolutions to user problems/concerns associated with databases
  • Identifies and resolves potential service-level issues before they occur
  • Shares knowledge with others on the team

Qualifications

  • Demonstrated success operating as a SQL Server DBA in a complex environment
  • 7 + years of experience working with SQL Server 2000 and 2005
  • Experience monitoring and tuning SQL Server instances
  • Ability to optimize t-sql code and stored procedures
  • Knowledge and understanding of the Windows Server platform
  • Prior experience in a production support role and with High Availability (HA) clustering preferred
  • Ability to provide on-call support and answer severity calls 24X7 as required
  • Effective verbal communication and documentation skills in both business and technical domains
  • Strong organizational skills to handle changing priorities, tight schedules, and correction of critical systems outside of normal working hours
  • Proven ability to maintain leading edge skills in a rapidly changing and fast-paced Information Systems environment
  • Ability to think outside the box and propose creative ideas
  • Four-year degree in Business Administration, Computer Science, Mathematics, or equivalent experience
