Supporting the well being of Steamboat Springs and surrounding area residents is Yampa Valley Medical Center (YVMC), a community hospital with 34 inpatients beds and 59 skilled nursing beds. With new technology driving advancements in healthcare, YVMC began to expand our Family Birth facilities and Surgery Department in 2008. HIM Director

Responsible for the direct supervision of HIM staff, to include: hiring, training, annual evaluations, and disciplinary actions. Provides staff with a positive work environment that supports the mission of YVMC, including: understanding organizational policies and procedures, organization values, and internal and external customer service expectations. Direct all coding activities for YVMC and Doak Walker Care Center . Understand regulatory requirements for accurate coding. Act as YVMC’s privacy officer. Participate in all ongoing activities related to the development, implementation, maintenance of, and adherence to the policies and procedures covering the privacy of, and access to, patient health information in compliance with federal and state laws and the healthcare organization’s information privacy practices.

Job Qualifications:

· A minimum two years experience in HIM management & three years of hospital coding and HIM experience.

· Extensive knowledge of federal, state and payer specific regulations and policies pertaining to documentation, coding, and billing

· RHIT or RHIA certification required.

· Meditech experience preferred.
