Chief Financial Officer Position at family-owned Accessory Company



    COMPANY DESCRIPTION:

    Well-established ( $150 + million) leading accessory company located in Queens, New York is seeking a hands-on Chief Financial Officer to be an integral member of the management team and to manage growth opportunity. The CFO will have responsibility and oversight for the company's financial plans and policies, its accounting practices, relationships with lending institutions and the financial community.

    JOB DESCRIPTION:

    • Hands-on CFO will report directly to the principal and will be an integral member of the management team.
    • Establishes accounting policies and procedures to ensure that all financial transactions are executed and documented in accordance with general accounting principles.
    • Develops analyses and interpretation of statistical and accounting information in order to appraise operating results in terms of profitability and the overall financial performance of the organization.
    • Proficient in G/L, EDI, factoring, chargebacks, weekly cash flow analyses, preparation of monthly financial statements, inventory and cost accounting.
    • Maintains the company's system of accounts, books and records on all company transactions and assets.
    • Establishes economic objectives and policies. Prepares reports and makes recommendations to senior management concerning the company's financial position in earnings, profits, expenses, costs and trends based on historical data.
    • Responsible for trial balance, revenue and expenses analyses and cash flow statements.
    • Oversees the organization's biweekly payroll. Ensures effective financial controls and has fiscal accountability.
    • Coordinates and directs the preparation of financial forecasts. Implements and maintains financial planning and control procedures. Analyzes and reports variances.
    • Accountable for tax planning and compliance with all federal, states, local, corporate, payroll and other applicable taxes.
    • Liaison with external accountants in preparation of year-end audit.

    JOB REQUIREMENTS:

    • Undergraduate degree in finance/accounting
    • CPA required
    • 10+ years of related accounting/financial management experience
    • Excellent accounting knowledge in either the wholesale apparel, accessories, import/distribution or consumer products industries
    • Experience with mass merchants (such as Walmart or other larger retailers, is also desirable.
    • Experience with automated payroll systems
    • Proficient in Excel, JD Edwards and knowledge of AS400 and general ledger packages
    • Detail-oriented and well-organized
    • Strong verbal and written communication skills

    ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS:

    • Strong leadership, mentoring and interpersonal skills
    • Ability to handle competing demands
    • Must be responsive to senior management and other internal/external cllients
    • Excellent follow-up skills
