Lead Engineer – Spacecraft Ground Support Systems Design
At our center for spacecraft development you will perform mechanical design of ground support equipment for use on spacecraft integration and test programs. In this level 4 Engineer position you'll lead: design activity from initial requirements definition; conceptual, preliminary/layout, and detail design; structural analysis;design review presentations;and support to fabrication. Typical designs wil include slings, lift fixtures, and metallic (aluminum & steel) structures and weldments. Additional responsibilities may include leading a small team, interfacing with customer, technical support, proposal technical inputs, cost estimating, and directing junior engineers.
Spacecraft and manned and unmanned aircraft systems designed and built by Northrop Grumman Aerospace Systems are in orbit and on station. They are watching potential threats to international stability and to the very environment we all share on this Earth, the only planet we have.
Basic Qualifications:BS in Engineering or equivalent, at least 9 years experience in mechanical engineering design with ; 5 years CATIA V5 or 3D CAD experience, and GD&T application. A current SSBI is required to satisfy security clearance requirements in this assignment.
Preferred Experience: 9+ years in design of MGSE. Experience related to spacecraft flight hardware, strong structural analysis skills.
