Our client is a premier global investment bank who is seeking an Applications Developer to join their Global Arbitrage group in a key role. The new hire will be responsible to create, develop, maintain and support a variety of systems to trade global markets for this extremely profitable proprietary trading group. The group seeks to improve its existing infrastructure and is continually adding new capabilities in order to trade new strategies, products, frequencies and markets. You will work on the trading desk and participate in long term strategic development efforts, plus provide tactical support throughout the trading day as required. Your duties will include:

· Provide technical and operational support and software development for the arbitrage trading desks.

· Support development that will grow business and introduce new trading opportunities in a timely manner.

· Provide technical and operational support on all components of the front office trading platform.

· Help ensure that trade and position information passes properly to custodians, accounting, regulatory authorities, risk management, and other groups/organizations that require data.

· Develop and foster strong working relationships with contacts throughout the bank

· Keep up to date with the latest developments in technology and the marketplace

· Liaison with groups outside of arbitrage in order to facilitate additional trading opportunities for the desk or to comply with firm policy.

REQUIREMENTS
• 5 years experience in development/support of equities/options trading systems would be preferred, but strong junior candidates will also be considered
• Some understanding of equities and options markets preferred
• Solid programming skills essential, including strong C, C++ or Core Java (all would be ideal)
• Experience with scripting languages such as perl, python
• Quantitative and analytic skills and experience with data analysis preferred
• Familiarity with debugging tools, experience with performance optimization, etc,
• Database experience and GUI development experience preferred
• Strong written, verbal, analytical, organizational and time management skills.
• Strong interpersonal/team work skills, including ability to work effectively and efficiently in an individual or team setting.
• Self-starter, must work independently with minimal supervision.
The compensation will be commensurate with the experience level of qualified candidates. For senior candidates with relevant domain knowledge, your base could reach the $150K range, with an additional bonus potentially taking the overall comp package into the $250K+ range. The numbers are definitely flexible for the right candidate, since this role has a high strategic priority supporting one of the core business areas of the firm, generating many millions of dollars of profit annually. It is entirely feasible for the successful candidate to be earning upwards of $300K in the coming years.
