Position Description

Position supports Ground-based Missile Defense (GMD) Program SE&I System Integration Team. Applies systems engineering processes, methodologies and tools to the design to support the integration of components and subsystems. Derives and develops architectures, integration plans and component designs to support the evolving operational system configuration. Analyze and communicate impacts of program directed changes in terms of technical, cost, risks identifying any issues with the current fielded system. Interfaces with other members of the project or program teams, management, customers and suppliers to meet group, organization and company objectives. Participates in/lead cross-functional technical working groups. Works across Program IPTs and operations locations to ensure timely, effective and methodical product delivery. May be required to present data to senior decision-makers. Performs technical planning and control; maintains and improves processes. Supports the development of new business opportunities and engineering change proposal activities as related to System Integration. Works under minimal supervision.

Education and/or Experience

Level 5 - Bachelor, Master or Doctorate of Science degree from an accredited course of study in engineering, computer science, mathematics, physics or chemistry and typically 14 to 19 years experience in an engineering classification or either a Master's degree with 12 to 17 years experience or a PhD degree with 9 to 14 years experience in an engineering classification. ABET is the preferred, although not required, accreditation standard.Level 6 - Bachelor, Master or Doctorate of Science degree from an accredited course of study in engineering, computer science, mathematics, physics or chemistry and typically 20 years experience in an engineering classification or either a Master's degree with 18 years' experience or a PhD degree with a minimum of 15 years experience in an engineering classification. ABET is the preferred, although not required, accreditation standard.


Other Job related information

The candidate must have knowledge and experience in systems engineering or test engineering (minimum of 12 years preferred), system interoperability and must have experience leading multi-discipline technical development teams. Candidate must exercise initiative and have demonstrated ability solving problems, recommending and implementing appropriate courses of actions ranging from simple to complex problems, and must have good communication skills. Familiarity with the GMD system is a plus. Occasional travel will be required to interface with customers and program related meetings, conferences and briefings.
