SUPERINTENDENT OF BUILDING,
GROUNDS, & TRANSPORTATION

Mill River Union High School, located in central Vermont, serves
approximately 200 students in grades 7-8 and 425 students in grades 9-12. The facilitys upkeep and maintenance is supported by the School Directors and community. Due to retirement, the position is available.

DUTIES:
The duties include scheduling, maintenance and operation of all school busses; supervision of maintenance, repair, renovation and operation of all physical plant and grounds; advising administration of desirable future Capital projects; assuring compliance with federal, state, and local regulations having to do with the safe &
legal operation of all facilities; scheduling and supervising all custodians and bus dr vers; serving as the school boards representative providing supervision and direction of construction projects and renovations. This position reports directly to the Building Principal.

QUALIFICATIONS:
Extensive hands-on experience with: complex electrical and mechanical systems, building construction andmaintenance, supervision of workers, scheduling of staff and equipment and successful interaction with diverse groups of employees,
students, and administrators. The successful candidate will have 5 to 10 years of appropriate exper ence, be computer literate, have demonstrated ability to think on his/her feet and deal with emergencies in an appropr ate and safemanner and be
competent to develop department budgets.

The present Building & Grounds Superintendent will be retired as of 7/1/10. The School Board wants to have his successor in place, full-time, on or about 5/1/2010. Ideally, the successor would be able to work with the present Building and Grounds Superintendent one or two days a week for some time prior to being employed on a full-time basis by MRUHS.
