Configuration/Release Manager Description

May perform one or more of the following:
1. Providing input into the planning process; specifically working with the Project Manager and the Operations teams to define acceptable deployment timescales which balance operational risk with meeting aggressive go-live dates. 2. Executing software deployments to agreed timescales, escalating issues or deviations from the plan to the Project Manager or Development Technical Lead. 3. Continually developing the software deployment process in order to improve repeatability and manageability and reduce risk. 4. Provide accurate recording and first tier analysis of deployment process errors. Engage senior IT engineering and/or development resources to resolve the underlying issues. 5. Providing input into regular deployment activity reports. 6. Supporting existing processes by adhering to them and encouraging others to do likewise, and raising non-compliance issues to the team leader where appropriate. 7. Connecting with senior staff on issues that may affect the operational effectiveness of the deployed systems. 8. Building good working relationships with staff from all areas of the business to achieve best results.
9. Other duties as assigned.
Knowledge and Skills Required
· Minimum 2-3 years experience of working within a complex software development project as either a developer or IT support engineer
· Capable of planning and prioritizing own workload in a high pressure and time constrained environment.
· Highly self-motivated and capable of working on own initiative as well as within a team.
· Quality focused with excellent attention to detail.
· Functioning knowledge of Microsoft applications including Word, Excel, Visio, PowerPoint, Project, Sharepoint and Outlook.
· Strong oral and written communication skills
· Familiarity of working within a formal project management framework.
· Proven troubleshooting skills.
Technical Product Background
· Microsoft Server 2003
· Microsoft BizTalk Server 2006
· Microsoft Internet Information Server (IIS)
· Dell/IBM hardware including blade technology
· Understanding of Cisco networks including firewalls.
· Microsoft SQL Server 2005
· Citrix
