Data Steward - This individual will be a business representative who is ultimately accountable for determining, describing and enforcing the business rules and definitions for data at the business level and providing training, mentoring and auditing defined by the Data Governance Office. You will be part of the Data Governance Office and will serve as a leader and expert resource on matters related to data privacy, usability, data release compliance data integrity, and security into our business-facing solutions. This position interfaces with IT staff, business, legal and compliance. We are looking for a seasoned analyst who understands the healthcare business and data management concepts and is able to recommend and gain reasonable compromises that enhance the value of our organization's data assets. Specific competencies include business knowledge, data management knowledge, analysis, facilitation and negotiation, and communication.
Specific responsibilities will include:
  • Reviewing, maintaining educating their business unit of data classification policies.
  • Implementing, and managing data access policies in support of the Data Governance Office.
  • Ensuring that data quality and data definition standards are developed and implemented as directed by the Data Governance Office.
  • Implementing and assuring compliance with Federal, and State policies and regulations regarding the release of, responsible use of, and access to data.
  • Coordinating and resolving stewardship issues and data definitions of data elements that cross multiple functional units.
  • Developing, implementing, and maintaining a Business Continuity Plan for institutional data under their control. Business Continuity is an ongoing process supported by senior management and funded to ensure that the necessary steps are taken to identify the impact of potential losses, maintain viable recovery strategies and plans, and ensure the continuity of operations through personnel training, plan testing, and maintenance.
  • Providing communications and education to data users on appropriate use and protection of data.
  • Implementing, and communicating record retention requirements for their business unit
  • Reporting quarterly status to the Data Governance Office
  • Reporting data breaches or losses directly to the Ingenix Compliance office as well as the Data Governance Office

Qualifications

Candidates will possess:

  • BA/BS requirement or equivalent work experience
  • 5+ years experience working directly with data in the area of interest and leading governance and security programs in a large scale enterprise environment.
  • High-level understanding of data structures
  • Experience with Ingenix data applications
  • Experience with Ingenix data flow
  • Knowledge regarding the domain area of interest
  • Ability to create and develop process diagrams
  • Familiarization with Data Governance concepts
  • Strong organization skills and research skills
  • Demonstrated communication and team skills
  • Ability to effectively consult with business client and technology audiences and ability to exert influence towards a successful/positive outcome
  • Healthcare and/or Financial experience around regulatory and compliance mandates highly desired (HIPAA, ARRA, NIST).
  • Healthcare domain knowledge preferred
  • Knowledge of data quality and metadata desirable
  • Business continuity or relevant.
