The area: Learning and Leadership Development

Google's emerging Learning and Leadership Development (LLD) team designs and implements innovative learning programs that support and develop the company's talent. Our team is a creative, dynamic and collaborative group that is responsible for three integrated components of learning: the learning programs of Google University, leadership development and talent management. We reach across all functions and geographic regions to support Googlers' personal and professional development in a way that contributes to their and our success. The breadth of our team's cultural, professional and geographical histories greatly enriches us, and we continue to embrace diversity in our applicants' backgrounds.

The role: Leadership Development Manager

Within the LLD group, the Leadership Development team is charged with developing a new leadership model for Google and creating high-quality programs and learning experiences to develop its present and future leaders at all levels. As Leadership Development Manager, you will report to the Leadership Development Director, whose mandate is to build a world-class leadership program aligned with Googles unique culture. Your team will strive to invent, design, deliver, manage and continuously improve exceptional and unique learning programs in management and leadership development. You are a talented learning and development professional who is passionate about developing leaders at all levels. Additionally, you come to us having successfully managed large leadership development programs.

Responsibilities:
  • Conceive, initiate, manage and facilitate the delivery of, and provide continuous improvement for, one or more management and leadership development programs.
  • Invent new approaches for delivering scalable leadership development programs in a new and innovative organization.
  • Partner with Learning and Development colleagues to identify new opportunities and skill-building programs that will develop emerging leaders.
  • Collaborate with internal clients to assess their developmental needs, perform gap analysis and design and lead training programs to provide management and leadership skills and capabilities.
  • Select the appropriate blend of learning modalities that will maximize the relevance, impact and understanding of specific subjects.
Requirements:
  • BA or BS degree with a track record of academic excellence, along with an advanced degree in a relevant field such as business, education, organizational development, etc.
  • At least 7 years of work experience with solid career progression, including at least 3 years in one or more of the following disciplines: leadership development, industrial psychology, organization development, organizational effectiveness or coaching (management consulting background preferred).
  • Significant experience in successfully managing, delivering and improving high-quality learning programs, including relevant curriculum and materials design (non-normative and entrepreneurial organization experience preferred).
  • Innovative and proactive problem-solving skills with a strong business acumen, a solid understanding of group and corporate dynamics and the ability to exercise integrity and sound judgment in complex and ambiguous situations.
  • Excellent interpersonal communication and public speaking skills.
  • Ability to work effectively with diverse clients at all levels in a large, complex, non-hierarchical organization as well as the ability to work with executives and senior leadership in a corporate environment.
  • Willingness to travel to other US and global Google offices (international experience preferred).
