Brand Corporate Affairs Strategy Sr. Manager (Multiple Positions) Job Summary
Responsibilities Description: Under the guidance of the Director/Sr. Director, Brand Corporate Affairs (BCA), develop, implement, and manage the overall strategic Corporate Affairs plan, including public relations (PR), ally development and internal communication plans, projects, and budgets, as well as points of integration with government affairs and policy work, in support of the successful achievement of all strategic plans in support of assigned Cornerstone/Design For Launch brands. Represent and guide all aspects of Corporate Affairs related to Cornerstone/Design For Launch brand(s). Major Responsibilities: - Develop and manage overall strategic Corporate Affairs plans, including PR, ally development internal communication projects and programs to support the effective and successful achievement of the Cornerstone/Design For Launch strategic plans. - Proactively engage colleagues in CER to include Government Affairs planning and initiatives into the strategic CA plan. - Serve as a single point of contact for brand team leadership for all Corporate Affairs-related services (Collaborate with CER/Corporate Communications colleagues to deliver value back to the Cornerstone/Design For Launch business units). - Work closely with the Ally Leadership Network to ensure appropriate integration and effective relationship building across all appropriate patient groups - Manage multiple agency partners to implement the PR and ally development strategies developed. - Strategically use communication skills to develop and execute PR/ally strategies to influence non-traditional groups including payors. Effectively utilize, and advocate for the use of various social media channels to reach external communications objectives. Identify new channels and opportunities available to drive brand messaging. - Effectively manage relationships with ex-US CA stakeholders - Global Marketing, Stanhope Gate and any partner organizations/companies - Primary day-to-day management of PR agencies to ensure the delivery of strategic communications projects and programs within budget and on schedule. - Create and/or review materials prior to AZAP review. - Provide proactive media relations support to the Director/Sr Director BCA, including pitching stories to the media, preparing media responses and issues management materials. - In the absence of the Director/Sr Director, to lead issues response teams, making strategic recommendations to senior brand management about key messages and tactics. Act as brand spokesperson if required. - Manage and monitor budgets associated with projects utilizing AZ's budgeting systems, e.g., DELTA, EzBuy. Manage accruals and agency invoices; review budgets monthly; adjust budgets as needed. Identify and quickly report significant budget variances. - Role responsibilities require approximately 30-40% relationship management, 30-40% strategic planning and 30% project execution. Qualifications - BS/BA degree in PR, Marketing or a related field - At least 7 years Communications experience - Effective communicator: written, verbal and presenting to groups - Experience managing PR agencies and managing $MM+ budgets - Knowledge and experience working with patient advocacy and professional groups - Good understanding of the government affairs and public policy functions and how they operate to support the business - Strong experience working with senior leaders internally and externally, message development and guidance - Knowledge of the pharmaceutical industry & environment - Working knowledge and experience with marketing objectives and business strategies Skills and Competencies: - Strong writing skills-both internal and external audiences - Experience in utilizing social media to achieve communication goalsMedia relations skills and training - Understanding of relationship building with patient advocacy and professional community - Understanding of change management principles - Project management skills - Strategic planning and influencing skills - Strong interpersonal skills and ability to build strategic working relationships Preferred Background: - Experience with issues management desirable - Deep knowledge of most relevant communication disciplines highly valuable - Background in public affairs or journalism is preferred - Healthcare PR or agency experience is preferred
