Director, Instrumentation Sales – North America Our company is top developer & supplier of optical metrology tools, atomic force/scanning microscopes, & stylus profilers used for a wide array of applications in industry & research. We are looking for a top of the line, focused Director, Instrumentation Sales for North America that has exceptional interpersonal skills, a background in sales of capital-intensive specific instruments, & a proven history of leading & cultivating a top applications and sales team. Essential functions: Be the director of management of a North American Instrumentation Applications & Sales team that is focused on pushing for sales performance that exceeds the assigned targets Provide long-term & short-term sales reports & forecasts by directing market research analysis, collection, & interpretation of market data Develop sales objectives for existing markets, Instrumentation products, & new markets on a national level by developing & forecasting annual sales quotas, recognizing opportunities & threats within each market, & delivering expected sales volume, along with the profit for the territory Offer coaching & leadership to applications and sales team to guarantee appropriate technical knowledge, skill level, & quota performance Develop field sales action plans in order to implement national sales programs Maintain selling prices, product mix, & sales volume by staying current with competitors, supply and demand, economic indicators, & changing trends Obtain orders, establish new accounts, & service existing accounts by organizing & planning a daily work schedule used to call on potential & existing customers Observe competition by gathering formation about the current marketplace on merchandising techniques, pricing, new products delivery schedules, products, etc. Ensure that management is always informed by submitting results & activity reports (ex: daily call reports, weekly work plans, & annual/monthly territory analyses. Solve arising customer complaints by developing solutions, looking into problems, formulating recommendations, & preparing reports. Be a participant in negotiations of sales & the direct proposal efforts that are before submission of tenders Develop quotations on systems (sign-off & review all quotations created by sales team ) Serve as a representative of the company at exhibitions, seminars, & trade shows Keep efficient budgetary controls of sales expenses Experience/Educational Requirements: At least ten years of field sales or technical marketing experience within the scientific instrument industry, and a at least six years experience in some form of sales management BS in Chemistry, Engineering, Physics or related degree; MBA’s are a bonus Attracted to changes & the ability to work well in a dynamic environment Solid factory relations Solid negotiation & interpersonal skills Solid CRM systems use & knowledge is a must Able to travel a minimum of 50% of the time. Due to the high travel component the right person will be able to work out of many locations in the US.
