About Us:

WHEN IT RAINS, IT POURS . For generations, this slogan and the little girl who made it famous have made Morton Salt a familiar sight in many American homes.

Since 1848, we've been America's leading producer of salt for grocery, water softening, ice control, agricultural and industrial uses. If you thought the Morton story began and ended with a little girl and an umbrella, we've got a lot to show you. Morton products aren't just for cooking!

In 1999, Morton was acquired by Philadelphia-based Rohm and Haas Company, Inc. and operates as a division of that company today employing over 3000 people in production facilities, warehouses and offices throughout the United States, Canada (under the brand name Windsor Salt) and the Island of Inagua in the Bahamas.

Job Description:

The Maintenance Planner is responsible for performing all planning activities from the status RPL (ready to plan) through to completion of the work. At RPL status a work request has been approved and the MOC (Management of Change) has been completed. The planning work includes estimates for labor resources, parts needed, special equipment and tools needed, permits required, and any other procedures, resources, or material needed to successfully complete the work order. The planner changes the status from RPL to RTS (ready to schedule) such that the work is then sent to the scheduler for completion. The job also includes developing the facility to "kitting" where parts, materials, and tools are ready for the craftsperson when the job is assigned. A planner is also expected to recognize and recommend jobs for "standard templates" where the job is repetitive in nature such that it would not require planning again. In this manner, the number of jobs planned each day can be increased.

Responsibilities:
•Ensures adherence to standard work processes (MEWP), including Integrated Manufacturing System / 21st Century Manufacturing (IMS / 21stCM).
•Responsible for planning the work order including craft and labor resources needed, task lists to do the job, parts required, permits required, special tools and equipment needed and other things as required to complete the work order.

•Develops standard work order templates for jobs that are repetitive where they need only one time planning.
•Incorporates regulatory requirements and effects upon the maintenance process into the work order.
•Requisitions parts and materials needed for work order packages AND not stocked in the storerooms.
•Maintains communication with the scheduler and Maintenance Coordinators so that progress on RPL work orders is known.
•Arranges for special equipment and contractor services for work orders they are planning.
•Recommends changes to PMs or parts stocking such that the needs of planning are consistent with the criticality of the equipment.
•Investigates all "re-work" to determine the root causes and then makes recommendations to R&M Manager for improvement.
•Evaluates JSA requirements and requests support to develop when needed.
•Discusses reliability improvements with reliability engineer.
•Confirms work order scope meets expectations
•Provides occasional off hour support to the unit.
•Performs other related duties, as required.
