Systems Engineer - Rochester, NY - RFCD10091040: Harris Corp.

:

• Lead development of Tactical Military Communications Systems from initial concepts through execution and delivery with focus on tactical voice and data communications integration into larger systems and platforms.
• This position will include technical planning, system integration, verification and validation, cost, schedule, and risk analysis for the total system.
• Performance of detailed design and execution from concept through design, fabrication, test, installation, and operation using customer hardware and software specifications.
• Ensure the conversion of customer requirements, including informal requirements, into solutions that balance the technical, schedule and cost constraints.
• Work directly with customers, sales team, program management, and product engineering teams.
• Project management including direct customer interaction will be required during system design, build and verification phases.
• Directly supervise small technical team to common program goals.
• Travel to customer locations, mainly international

Qualifications:

• BSEE/BSCE and 4+ years of experience or Masters Degree and 2+ years of experience.
• Willing to travel up to 25% including international
• 2+ years experience with Tactical Radio Communications, Infrastructure and Systems.
• This position requires 2+ years experience in one or more of the following areas:
• Military Tactical Radio System Architectures (HF, VHF, UHF, Satcom)
• Tactical Power Systems Design and Integration
• Tactical Platform integration experience – Vehicular, Naval, Airborne
• Networking - Internet protocols (TCP/IP, UDP, PPP), IPSec, QoS, Wireless (802.11, 802.16)
• Computer communication interfaces (RS-232, RS-422, RS-485)
• Communications standards (ATM, Frame Relay, T1/E1)

Preferred Additional Skills:

• Platform integration (Vehicular, Aircraft, Shipboard) experience a plus
• Be highly motivated, a self starter, and be able to operate with little supervision in diverse environments
• International travel experience
• Foreign language proficiency a plus
